A new creamery will soon call Whitehaven home with help from EDGE’s Economic Development Finance Committee. Kaye’s Pints & Scoops is owned by entrepreneur Kiamesha Wilson. Wilson received a forgivable $15,000 ICED loan for improvements to the business’s 2089 Winchester location.

Kaye’s Pints & Scoops will be housed in a 1,449 square foot space that was built in 1960. The EDGE Inner City Economic Development (ICED) loan will go toward an extensive list of improvements to enhance the space’s appearance, which includes giving the building’s façade a facelift. In addition, Wilson will install a new service ramp, commercial doors, electrical panels, flooring and plumbing.

Kaye’s Pints & Scoops will be a micro-creamery that specializes in small-batch, hand-crafted premium ice cream. The business will sweeten the dessert market by offering pre-packaged pints and half pints. Customers will also be able to order online for pick-up or delivery. Wilson plans to serve local retailers, area restaurants and specialty shops.

Kiamesha Wilson is a Whitehaven native who is proud to open an ice cream manufacturing and distribution center in the community she calls home. Wilson recognized that Whitehaven did not have a local creamery. With more than 15 years of marketing and strategic planning experience, Wilson set out to fill that void. She completed training at Scoops School, a St. Louis frozen dessert education and training facility, and she joined the National Ice Cream Retailers Association. Wilson earned her MBA from the University of Memphis and worked for St. Jude before deciding to launch her business.

Kaye’s Pints & Scoops will be the 13th ICED loan EDGE has approved for the Whitehaven area. “Kaye’s Pints & Scoops will launch like many small Memphis businesses. Entrepreneurs share their visions, and we assist in bringing those visions to life. We are excited to play a role in the success of this woman and minority-owned firm,” said EDGE President & CEO Reid Dulberger.

Kaye’s Pints & Scoops is set to open in August.
